Several workers feared trapped, 23 injured as under-construction lintel collapses in UP's Kannauj

An under-construction lintel collapsed at a Kannauj railway station, trapping workers engaged in beautification work. Eleven people have been rescued so far, with two in critical condition. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to expedite relief efforts and ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.

LUCKNOW: An incident occurred at a railway station in Kannauj when an under-construction lintel collapsed, trapping several workers under the debris.Uttar Pradesh minister Asim Arun said that 23 workers had been rescued from the rubble, with 20 suffering minor injuries and 3 seriously injured. He further added that the rescue operation is ongoing, as more people are feared to be trapped."Work was going on for the new terminal at Kannauj railway station, today the under-construction structure collapsed here. 23 people were rescued, 20 people received minor injuries, they are undergoing treatment. 3 people are seriously injured and they have been referred to Lucknow. Some more people are feared to be trapped. "No death as yet," he said.

District Magistrate (DM) Shubhrant Kumar Shukl, also arrived at the scene with other senior officials to supervise the rescue operation, said, "Preliminary information suggests that the incident occurred when the under-construction roof shuttering collapsed."
He added, "Our top priority is to rescue the trapped workers, and we are deploying all available resources to assist in the efforts."The workers were engaged in beautification work at the station when the mishap took place.Emergency teams, including police and administration personnel, are actively involved in ongoing rescue operations.Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the incident. He directed officials to reach the site immediately and expedite relief efforts.
