Owner goes to meet friend, driver flees with 10L from car
Ghaziabad: A 37-year-old driver was arrested for allegedly stealing cash from his employer on Monday. The accused, Azad Khan, had been working for the complainant for the last eight years.On Sept 8, Hina Ahmad, a resident of Sector 62 alleged that her driver had stolen Rs 10 lakh cash and jewellery from her car, said ACP Indirapuram Swatantra Singh. "On Aug 4 when Hina had gone to drop her husband to Delhi airport. Azad was driving the car. They stopped for a while to visit an acquaintance in Indirapuram. When they were away, Azad noticed a bag of money inside the car. He then took the bag and fled. When Hina returned and called him, he had switched his phone off and disappeared," the ACP said.Azad was arrested on Monday night from Sector 16, Vasundhara. "Out of Rs 10 lakh, he had used Rs 2 lakh to pay off a debt," the ACP said, adding that Rs 8 lakh has been recovered from his possession. The accused has been booked under BNS Section 305 (theft in house, or means of transportation ) .
