Man knocked out in accident in Ghaziabad, bystander flees with his bike

Ghaziabad: It's instinctive to help a road crash victim, but not always. A 40-year-old man who was knocked out in an accident lost his bike earlier this month after a bystander decided to run away with his bike instead of helping the man. A case was registered in the matter on Tuesday.On Nov 19, Bablu Singh — a resident of Pratap Vihar — was on his way to Samrat Chowk along with his niece around 6.45pm when their bike was hit by a car from behind in the Vijay Nagar area. Singh and his niece, who is a minor, both fell off the bike and suffered injuries.Some bystanders rushed to the duo's aid, helping move a knocked out Singh and his niece to an adjacent road while they called the authorities for help and got them water. The duo were later brought to a nearby hospital for treatment."Taking advantage of the situation, an unknown person stole the bike and fled from the place. After some time, when police reached the spot and they checked for the bike, it was not found," the complaint stated.ACP (Kotwali) Priyashri Pal said that an FIR was registered against unknown persons under Section 303 (2) (theft) of the BNS on Tuesday. Police are checking the CCTV footage of the nearby areas to trace the culprits, and an investigation is underway, the ACP added.
