Afternoon diversions on Yamuna & Noida expressways as Yogi, Vaishnaw to be in city for HCL event
Noida: Traffic police issued an advisory announcing diversions on the Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway on Saturday, when chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Union IT and electronics minister Ashwini Vaishnaw are set to attend the foundation ceremony of the HCL-Foxconn semiconductor manufacturing unit in YEIDA Sector 28.Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event virtually. The programme is scheduled between 2pm and 6pm on Saturday.
DCP (traffic) Manisha Singh said that traffic movement on the two expressways may be briefly affected during VIP movement. "The entries to the expressways will be briefly closed before and after the passage of VIP convoys to ensure smooth movement and security," she said.The officials are expected to travel from Delhi to Greater Noida via the DND Flyway, Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway.Traffic on the Noida Expressway will be halted during VIP movement, with vehicles diverted through internal sector roads. Additionally, the movement of goods carriers will remain restricted on the DND Flyway, Chilla border and Kalindi Kunj on Saturday. Such vehicles will be guided to use NH-9 and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway as alternative routes.On the Yamuna Expressway, vehicles travelling from Agra towards Greater Noida will be stopped near the Jewar toll plaza and redirected towards Jewar Kasba and the Sabauta underpass. From there, commuters can proceed to Khurja and Sikandrabad.Similarly, vehicles moving from Pari Chowk towards Agra will be diverted at the Alpha commercial market roundabout and directed towards the Depot metro station, from where they can access the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.Traffic police issued a helpline number (9971009001) for commuters seeking assistance.The semiconductor manufacturing unit is being established as a joint venture between HCL Group and Foxconn. The project, with an investment of Rs 3,706 crore, will come up on 48 acres in Sector 28 under YEIDA. It is among six semiconductor manufacturing units approved by the Centre under India's semiconductor mission.Officials said the facility will manufacture display driver chips used in mobile phones, laptops, personal computers, automobiles and other devices equipped with display panels. Once operational, the plant is expected to generate around 3,780 jobs.
