GREATER NOIDA: Police arrested four members of a gang from the Sutyana cut in

Greater Noida

on Wednesday for allegedly killing their accomplice over suspicion of leaking information to police and trying to become their leader.

The accused, Farooq (21), Akash (18), Sanjay(18) and Mohan (22), smashed the face of their aide with a heavy object and set him on fire to erase evidence, said police. All four accused and the victim, Vivek Kumar (19), are residents of Ecotech 3.

village. “We we registered a case under IPC sections 302(murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) against unknown people,” additional DCP (Central Noida) Elamaran G said.

On Tuesday evening, the family members of the deceased identified himand shared the names of some of his friends. “On Wednesday, we managed to zero down on the four and took them in custody,” Elamaran said. During interrogation, the four told police that the deceased was a member of their gang that committed thefts at closed factories. “There were six members in the gang, and five of them planned to kill Vivek as they suspected him of leaking plans of thefts to police,” Vinod Kumar, SHO Ecotech 3 police station, said.
