NAVI MUMBAI: A 24-year-old gold medallist in wrestling who has represented for University of Mumbai is among those who was on the ill-fated bus which fell into a gorge at Khopoli on Saturday. The wrestler,
Omkar Pawar who is from Khopoli, has sustained multiple injuries and has been admitted to the intensive care unit at MGM Hospital, Kamothe.
Son of an autorickshaw driver, Omkar had represented Mumbai University at an all-India university-level competition held in Haryana last year.
His father, Jitendra, who was at the hospital on Sunday said that doctors have not yet disclosed to the family the details of the injury that Omkar has suffered. "Omkarsecured a bronze medal in the first round and was entitled to a minimum monthly honorarium from the state government, but he skipped the finals," said Jitendra.
