Navi Mumbai: At least four corporators from the city have presented their suggestions in the general body agenda for tackling the shortage of parking space in the city.
Vashi corporator Anjali Walunj representing Ward No. 62 has suggested reducing the width of footpaths. “NMMC should widen the roads to address traffic congestion,” Walunj said.
Three other corporators have asked NMMC to consider underground parking for reducing traffic jams.
The suggestion, yet to be brought in front of the general body, is a part of series of non administrative resolutions.
“The administration should consider implementing underground parking in playgrounds and open spaces. Considering there is little scope to expand the city’s limits the only means is to create underground slots,” they said.
