Navi Mumbai: A pedestrian, Prakash Pawar (55), was mowed down by a speeding vehicle on Monday. The man died on the spot due to severe head injuries. The incident occurred on the Panvel-Mumbra road near Rohinjan village where the deceased resided. At around 10am, Pawar had left his house for work. While he was crossing the arterial road, a speeding vehicle travelling from Panvel towards Mumbra hit him. The Taloja police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving causing death against the driver of the unidentified vehicle. The Taloja cops claimed that the absence of CCTV cameras on the Panvel-Mumbra road has made it difficult for them to trace the culprit.
