Panvel Nayab Tehsildar, PA granted bail

NAVI MUMBAI: The Panvel Nayab tehsildar and an internationally acclaimed body builder, Panvel Nayab tehsildar Suhas Khamkar, and his personal assistant Ganesh Bhogade, arrested on Monday for taking bribe, were released on bail on Thursday by the Alibaug court. The duo have to pay Rs 25,000 each. They had allgedly demanded Rs 1 lakh bribe and were caught accepting Rs 50,000 from the complainant.
The duo had demanded the money after the complainant had applied to include the name of a land buyer in the 7/12 extract.
“The duo was initially remanded to 15 days judicial custody and later granted bail. However, they have to co-operate with the Raigad ACB in the investigations,” said Raigad ACB’s deputy SP Sunil Kalgutkar.
Khamkar’s house was searched and the ACB team found some documents of a flat in his native place Kolhapur which was purchased in 2004 apart from gold ornaments. “It was concluded that he did not own any disproportionate assets compared to his actual sources of income since he had bought the flat in 2004 and joined service in 2013,” added Kalgutkar.
