NAVI MUMBAI: The expert committee, chaired by civic chief Tukaram Mundhe, has given the go-ahead to seven applications, comprising 99 buildings, for redevelopment on Wednesday. The committee meeting was convened at NMMC headquarters to decide on 18 applications for redevelopment.
“To give go-ahead for redevelopment of Cidco-built condominium, it has to be identified as dangerous by the special committee, constituted by the state. Only those buildings are allowed to submit their redevelopment proposal to avail commencement certificate,” said an official from the town planning department.
The official added that there are conclusive reports stating the dire state of the seven applications. All of the JN-type 1, 2 and 3 buildings in sector 9, Vashi and Nerul were identified as dangerous.
Committee approvals have given major reprieve to the residents of these buildings.
“The approvals have come after a delay of nearly 20 years,” said local corporator Kishor Patkar.
