NAVI MUMBAI: Nerul-based Dr D Y Patil Sports Academy won the Prabodhan Mumbai T-20 Cricket Tournament for the fourth time in succession. They defeated Mumbai Police Gymkhana by nine wickets at the Prabodhan Kreeda Bhavan in Goregaon on Sunday.
For the victorious team, Rakesh Prabhu took three wickets conceding 24 runs, while his new ball partner, Abhay Waghmare managed to get two wickets for 22 runs.
The policemen managed to score only 120 for 9 in 20 overs. D Y Patil achieved the target easily with a half century from its master player Vineet Indulkar.
The cops needed early breakthroughs but missed a few chances and Indulkar made the most of it.
The winners pocketed prize money of Rs 1 lakh, while the runners-up received Rs 50, 000.
“We created a record of sorts by winning the title for the fourth time in a row,” said Nerul team manager Unmesh Khanvilar.
Prabhu, for his stupendous effort, was declared the man of the match.
