NAVI MUMBAI: A function was organized at Vashi on Thursday to commemorate the 116th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
The event was organized by a group comprising scribes, ex-servicemen, civil activists, poets and authors, under the flagship of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Smruti Sansthan.
At the programme, speakers from various fields expressed resentment over the apathetic state of affairs in the country by stressing on the
fact that Netaji has been forgotten by the youth.

Many among them urged that the government declare January 23 a national holiday and 'Veerta Diwas' (Bravery Day)
in memory of the great freedom fighter. Navi Mumbai paid obeisance to the great freedom struggler on January 23.
Also, several poets highlighted Netaji's services to the country by reciting their collections based on his life.
"There is no need to gather people to celebrate his birthday as History speaks volumes of his greatness even today, after several decades of his mysterious disappearance," said actor and ex-defence man S C Mishra.
The city has been celebrating Bose's birth anniversary since 1993, when his few followers got together to pay tribute to this unparalleled revolutionary personality in the Indian history. The dignitaries present included Vipul Lakhnavi, Trilochan Singh Arora, Narayan Jadhav, Vinod Pradhan and Dinesh Patil, among others.
