3 killed, 3 hurt in blast at chemical plant in Maharashtra's Raigad district
A blast at Sadhana Nitrochem in Raigad's Dhatav MIDC resulted in three deaths and three injuries, possibly due to welding sparks igniting a methanol tank. The victims were from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
NAVI MUMBAI: Three persons were killed and three injured in a blast at a chemical company in Dhatav MIDC of Roha taluka in Raigad on Thursday morning. The blast is suspected to have been caused due to exposure of welding sparks with a highly inflammable methanol tank. The company, Sadhana Nitrochem, had engaged contractor M K Fabricators to execute a product washing unit work. Six workers were at the spot and some were engaged in welding works. There were 10 other workers at the methanol tank located nearby. Cracks were observed in the plant structure following the explosion.Two of the deceased - Dinesh Ram (25) and Sanjit Kumar Yadav (21) - were residents of Azamgarh and Prayagraj districts in Uttar Pradesh. The third, Basuki Yadav (45), was a resident of Munger, Bihar. Roha police have booked owner of M K Fabricator, Mohan Lal, and others under culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and causing grievous injuries under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
