How the case unfolded
  • The allegations surfaced last week, prompting the Maharashtra Police to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter.
  • In response, TCS reiterated its “zero-tolerance” policy on harassment and confirmed that the employees accused in the case have been suspended pending investigation.
Protest call and wider claimsIn a statement, the Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of the Vishva Hindu Parishad said it would mobilise protests across the country.VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal said workers would organise demonstrations and rally members of the Hindu community. The organisation also linked the Nashik case to broader concerns, alleging issues such as “love jihad”, illegal land encroachments, and harassment in certain localities.Call for stricter lawsEarlier in the day, the VHP raised concerns over alleged forced conversions nationwide and urged the government to enact stringent anti-conversion laws.VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain said the Nashik case points to a “larger network” and appealed to both central and state governments to take decisive action, citing national security, citizen safety, and social harmony as key concerns. The developments have intensified political and social reactions, even as the SIT continues its investigation into the Nashik allegations.(With agency inputs)
