‘Targets were financially weak’: New details in TCS Nashik case

NASHIK: Nashik police have written to central and state investigative agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), sharing details of nine alleged sexual and religious harassment cases reported at Tata Consultancy Services’ (TCS) Nashik office.

Police commissioner Sandeep Karnik said the move was aimed at ensuring “attention and cooperation” from specialised agencies as investigators examine multiple angles in the case.




According to police sources, complainants have alleged the existence of a 'organised network' involving senior staff members and an HR manager within the office setup.

Investigators also said the accused were part of a training team and had detailed knowledge of new employees joining the organisation.

“They would choose ‘targets’ who were financially weak, had family issues, and needed money,” the investigation has found.

Responding to growing speculation on social media, Karnik said some posts suggested possible extremist links and foreign funding behind what he described as an organised pattern of misconduct.

“A lot of questions are being raised through posts on social media suggesting the likelihood of extremist organisations, international funding and links behind what prima facie appears to be an organised group activity involving the employees arrested so far in these cases,” Karnik said.

He added that all possible angles were being examined.

“We are conducting a thorough investigation in these cases, covering all such angles, and we have written to the state intelligence department (SID), the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), requesting their attention and cooperation.
