Students beam with energy as they attend school after summer break
Nashik/ Kolhapur: Students returned to schools beaming with excitement on Thursday after one-and-a-half months of summer vacation.The schools were decked up with balloons, corridors were decorated with rangoli in Nashik and Kolhapur cities. The children entered the school to the tune of dhol tasha in Nashik on Thursday morning.Students from Classes 1 to 10 were welcomed with open arms by the teachers and non-teaching staff.In Nashik, the children of Class I and II were seen crying while entering the school. On the other hand, those from senior classes were happy to see their teachers and friends after a long break.“I am eager to meet my friends and teachers whom I missed all during the vacation,” stated Malhar Sonawane, a kg student.But others did not want to go to school. “I don’t want to go to school. We are asked to sit and do something that we don’t want. I don’t get to play,” said Rakesh Tiwari, a Class I student.Schools like Rachana High School welcomed the students by giving them a horse ride amid the drum beats. All the 88 schools run by the Nashik civic body started functioning on Thursday.Schools in Nashik rural have also started functioning. The teachers decorated the classrooms while the children were brought to schools in bullock carts, tractors etc. ZP CEO Ashima Mittal welcomed the girls in the Government Girls School in Nashik district.The situation was similar in Kolhapur city. Most students returned with great enthusiasm.In Kolhapur district, there are 4,000 primary schools with 6.63 lakh students while there are 968 secondary schools with 4.50 lakh students. While Kolhapur has 58 municipal schools with around 10,000 students.Deepak Kumbhar, a school teacher from a school in Shivaji Peth, said, “The students were welcomed on Thursday by offering them roses, sweets and educational kits comprising books, notebooks and pen, and pencil. To maintain hygiene on the campus, the school benches were sanitized and cleaned properly.”Free textbooks were distributed to all the students in Zilla Parishad, Municipalities, Government Schools, and Private Aided Schools under Samagra Shiksha Scheme. A total of 13.26 lakh textbooks were given free of cost to students from class I to VIII on the first day of school under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, an integrated scheme for school education.Meanwhile, the Smart School of Nashik Municipal Corporation under the Smart City project, which has been raised at Kathe Galli started functioning on Thursday.
