Section between Kathe Galli signal and Dwarka Jn closed
Nashik: The rapid pace of construction on the Dwarka grade separator led to total closure of the stretch between Dwarka and Kathe Galli on Tuesday. While heavy vehicles were redirected, some motorcyclists and autorickshaws travelling from Nashik Road successfully navigated a narrow access path to reach the junction. Commuters approaching from the Shalimar area largely adapted by turning right at Sarda Circle. This detour routed traffic through Nagji Signal and Kathe Galli, allowing the motorists to circumvent the closure and continue their journey towards Nashik Road.Inspector Riyaz Shaikh of the city traffic police said heavy vehicles like trucks and buses were already barred from using the Dwarka junction. "They were using the diversion routes for over a week. The light vehicles that used the junction from the Nashik Road side and Sarda Circle side started taking various alternative routes through Mumbai Naka, Nagji Signal, and other signals," he said."No major traffic congestion was observed in any part of the city owing to the near-complete closure of the junction. Some vehicles are using the small road from Nashik Road to move towards the junction. However, that road too will be completely closed soon," the officer added. The work on the grade separator, which was taken up over the past two weeks, will take around nine months. However, the roads are being restricted for traffic in a phased manner.
