National Lok Adalat in Nashik resolves over 16,000 cases
Nashik: A total of 16,826 cases were resolved at the National Lok Adalat held in courts across the district on Saturday.The district court formed 55 panels to hear the matters at the Lok Adalat. Court officials stated that of the 80,267 pre-litigation cases, 12,677 were resolved and 4,159 of the 32,975 pending court cases were settled. Officials added that several major motor accident claims were also successfully resolved.Among the cases, in 2022 accident case, a biker Santosh Jadhav, was killed after being hit by a truck near Mirchi Hotel. His legal heirs received a settlement of Rs73 lakh.A total of 273 such motor vehicle accident cases were resolved district-wide.The family members of a constable Madhukar Laxman Khule, who died in a collision with a pickup truck near Pandhurli junction in July 2022, received Rs 46.50 lakh through mutual consent.Meanwhile, while hearing cases related to family disputes, through counselling and mediation, 40 couples agreed to settle their differences and decided to live their married lives together. Among other cases, 1,141 cheque bounce cases were resolved, 273 motor accident cases were resolved and six labour department cases were resolved.The National Lok Adalat was held in Nashik under the guidance of district and sessions court judge S D Jagmalani, informed secratary of the District Legal Service Authority Suhas Bhosle, through a release.
