Nashik-Pune rly: Action committees to continue protest
Nashik: Even after chief minister Devendra Fadnavis announced appointing a consultant to find new alignment for the Nashik-Pune semi high-speed railway project, the local committees have vowed to continue with their agitation. The CM, while speaking in the legislative council on Wednesday, announced that the expert consultant will be appointed to study a route that will minimize the deviation and passes through the Sangamner town. The response came after independent MLC Satyajeet Tambe stressed for a meeting between the CM and village-level action committees who are demanding the railway alignment through Akole, Sangamner, Junnar route.
Baban Waje, president of the Sinnar action committee, stressed the agitation demanding the passage of the railway alignment via Sinnar in Nashik and Akole, Sangamner in Ahilyanagar instead of Shirdi (Ahilyanagar) will continue till the decision is made in favour of the logical solution. The local action committees have also written to the chief minister and stressed on resorting to the original route."Students from schools and colleges are writing letters to the chief minister. After the end of examinations, the schools and colleges will explain the benefits of the railway track via Sangamner to the students and ask them to write a letter to the chief minister. We expect that more than 30,000 letters will be mailed to the chief minister and even to the railway minister," Waje said. The agitation will also be carried out by the committees from Akole and Sangamner in Ahilyanagar district and Junnar in Pune district. "Our aim is to fight for justice. We will continue our fight till then," Ramesh Thorat, one of the members of the committee from Sangamner taluka, said.
