Nashik police crack down on illegal liquor sellers

Nashik: The city on Sunday witnessed a crackdown on illegal liquor selling and gambling with raids at several places.
Kirti Maru, a resident of Panchavati, told TOI, "Continuous police action can close such businesses permanently. This will make the city even safer for its residents."
The Nashik city police raided Panchavati and Bhadrakali areas, and found Sachin Bhore (30) keeping a large number of country-made liquor bottles, worth Rs 6,720, in his house.
Bhore intended to sell the bottles at higher rates when liquor shops were closed.
The Panchavati police raided two houses in Waghadi, where they found Shivaji Gaikwad (46) harbouring country-made liquor bottles, worth Rs 1,875; they also caught Gokul Ugalmugle in the same area possessing a hooch stored in two cans.
The team also caught Vikas Kolawane (30), keeping country liquor bottles, worth Rs 955, in his house in the Hirawadi area.
The Panchavati police raided a gambling den in Waghadi area and arrested Pravin Nagare (32) under the Public Gambling Act 1867 for taking bets from people for Matka gambling. They also seized cash and other articles from the den.
