Nashik: The Nashik city police have issued a notification announcing closure of the road stretch between the Sharanpur Police Chowky signal and Old Gangapur Naka signal for a period of three months — from Jan 20 to April 19. The closure is to facilitate concrete road work on the stretch. Motorists travelling from Sharanpur Police Chowky towards Old Gangapur Naka and heading to Panchavati have been advised to take a diversion via ABB Circle, turn right towards Mahatma Nagar, and then proceed along Gangapur Road from Jehan Circle.A police officer, while talking to TOI, said once the work on this stretch is complete, the adjacent stretch of the road, i.e. from Old Gangapur Naka to Sharanpur Police Chowky, will be taken up in the next phase. The police have instructed the contractor to put up barricades on either side of the road and at all other punctures where there is a possibility that motorists may move onto the road under construction. Further, the contractor has also been asked to deploy 20 wardens for managing vehicular traffic at the diversion point, punctures, sub-roads and the no-entry point.
In the event of any accident at the site of the road construction work, the responsibility for the accident will be on the department concerned, contractor and the company. The construction company was also told to complete the work on time and follow the instructions of the police department from time to time.
