Malegaon Municipal Corporation eyes e-Office system implementation by April 1 to go fully paperless
Nashik: The Malegaon Municipal Corporation has set an ambitious target to become a fully paperless administration by April 1, with the implementation of the e-Office system, a digital workflow platform developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).Although the corporation has been slower than other state bodies in adopting the system, it is now accelerating efforts to catch up. The initiative forms a key component of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis's 100-Day Programme, which aims to modernise all govt and semi-govt offices across Maharashtra.Additional commissioner Rohidas Dorkulkar, who previously implemented the system successfully at the Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation, is spearheading the project. "The digital shift will significantly enhance administrative speed and transparency by eliminating delays caused by physical file movement. The corporation has begun by digitising the inward department, where all incoming physical letters are scanned and converted into electronic files," Dorkulkar said.Under the initiative, each scanned document is assigned a unique identification number and then routed online to the next relevant stage for necessary action.
This allows both applicants and officials to track the exact location and status of any file with a single click.Dorkulkar said NIC trainers, including Maharashtra Project Head Suresh Sura, were providing hands-on support to prepare staff for the transition. "Technical groundwork is well underway, and several departments have already begun operating digitally on a pilot basis over the past few days," he said.Beyond faster processing, the digital system promises improved security for important documents, ensuring they cannot be lost or misplaced, while giving citizens real-time updates on the progress of their applications.
