NASHIK: The Nashik anti-terrorist squad (ATS) has arrested one more person in connection to the five arrests of members of Popular Front of India (PFI) on September 22.

The accused, who was picked up from Jalgaon on Friday night, had assisted the five PFI members who have been arrested for formatting their cellphones and other electronic communication devices.

On being produced before a court, special public prosecutor in the case Ajay Misar requested 14-day police custody for investigating his role in assisting the PFI members, which was granted by the court.

He was produced in a special court on Saturday and was remanded to 14 day police custody.

On September 22, the ATS had arrested five PFI members under the various sections of IPC and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Those arrested were from Nashik (Malegaon), Beed and Kolhapur and two were from Pune.

During the course of interrogation of the five accused, the ATS officials found the involvment of the sixth accused in helping them erase all the data from their cellphones and laptops as a preventive measure. Taking his role into account, he was picked up by the ATS in Jalgaon.
