Nashik: Four members of the ticket-checking staff from the Central Railway's Bhusawal Division have each collected over Rs1 crore in fines from ticketless travellers during the 2025-26 fiscal year so far.With 11 days still remaining in the current financial year, five additional staff members are also reportedly nearing the 1-crore mark each.Nisar Khan, a TTI, has collected a staggering Rs1.47 crore in revenue. He is followed by SK Gupta (chief ticket inspector) with Rs1.16 crore, KK Patel with Rs1.02 crore, and DN Chaudhary (chief ticket inspector) collected Rs1 crore."We have introduced a large number of trains, including many special services, to ensure passengers can reach their destinations comfortably. However, some individuals still board without valid tickets or occupy unauthorised coaches. Our ticket checking staffers have been diligent in ensuring these passengers pay the requisite fines for unauthorised or illegal travel," said a senior official from the Bhusawal Division.Railway authorities have renewed their appeal to the public, urging passengers to travel only with valid tickets to avoid heavy penalties.
Beyond simple ticketless travel, officials noted an increase in cases involving fraudulent activity. "We have encountered instances of passengers using fake tickets or travelling on tickets issued to someone else. Despite it being common knowledge that train tickets are non-transferable and require valid identification, people continue to risk travelling under other names," the officer added.
