Four of a family killed in car-truck collission in Ahilyanagar

Nashik: Four members of a family were killed, and three others suffered serious injuries when their car collided with an oncoming truck on the Shrirampur-Sangamner Road at 4.15 pm on Wednesday.The deceased have been identified as Prashant Chavan (24), Siddharth Chavan (16), Sangita Chavan (40) and Aishwarya Chavan (26). A six-year-old boy, a three-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman are the three injured people who have been admitted to a hospital at Loni in Ahilyanagar.
Inspector Nitin Deshmukh, of the Shrirampur city police station, said, "The family of seven from Saraswati Colony, Shrirampur, was travelling in a hatchback towards Khandala village, about 16 km from Shrirampur, to offer prayers at a temple when the car collided with the truck on a road without a divider."Inspector Deshmukh added that by the time police reached the spot, residents had already moved the injured people to the hospital in Loni.The truck driver fled the scene, leaving his behind. The police said they are searching for the truck driver.The police said the Chavan family had two wada-pav eateries in Shrirampur.The police added there was no traffic jam on the road after the accident, and they are investigating the cause of the accident.
