NASHIK: The second day at Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival (KVIFF) was special for school students. Apart from the routine film screenings, a workshop was conducted by Environmentalist Amit Tillu was the highlight on Wednesday .
Hemand Bele, Local coordinator of the festival said,"More than 200 students participated in this interactive workshop.
classes and discussions was open to audience prsent there. Students were told about the cause of environment conservation and need of preserving natural resources for an overall development of the city. Some selected documentaries were also shown to them,"said Mahesh Arora, coordinator of KVIFF.
"The children were impressed with a documentary 'Fat or Skinny' based on a movement calling for ban of junk food near schools.Junk food is the reason one out of six school going kids is an overweight today. In the discussion round after this screening students came out with suggestions about food pattern," said Amit Tillu, who conducted the workshop. Animated film 'Surakshit Bhavishya' was equally appreciated by these school kids.
In the evening session documentary 'Elephants: Days and Nights' based on research by Prof Raman Sukumar was screened at Kusumagraj memorial. The movie gave an insight on elephant-human conflict in South India. Asif Khan's movie 'Rise and Fall of Ustad', a story of tiger from Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, Aarti Shrivastava's 'Land of Widows' focusing on unsustainable working conditions of mine workers in Rajasthan, and Ashok Patel's 'God on The Edge', story of elephant-keeper Mohammad Jan Baksh, who had to see the elephant he took care for years together being shot dead received appreciation by Nashikite movie-lovers.
As per schedule a photo walk has been planned at Pandav Leni premises on thursday. Leading photographer Prasad Pawar will share his views on capturing the beauty of caves during this photo walk. Six movies are scheduled to be screened at Kusumagraj Memorial. All events are open for all for free.
