NASHIK: The Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Association of India (CREDAI
), with the help of tree guards, will be planting 15,000 saplings in the city by August 15 along with taking care of these saplings for the next three years. Members of CREDAI will choose certain areas in the city to plant saplings of indigenous variety within a fortnight in a bid to complete the target before the deadline decided by them.
The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) will be providing the saplings to CREDAI.
"We have set a target of planting all the saplings by August 15 with each interested member covering separate locations of the city," said member of the managing committee of CREDAI Pradeep Patel who looks after the social activities of the organisation.
The members who have already been made aware of the project will be formally notified about it by Monday.
President of CREDAI, Nashik Kiran Chavan said, "I have drafted a letter for all the members inviting them to plant trees and also to mention their preferred location. This letter would be sent to them on Monday and it would take around one week to finalise things before we start with the actual plantation."
This is a first major tree plantation project undertaken by any organisation in such a short period. Thakkar Builders had announced planting one lakh trees last year but without a definite time frame. "We have planted 52,000 trees in the city so far and would continue doing it," said Jitendra Thakkar, who is also part of CREDAI and will be participating in the project.
On the possibility of his project merging with CREDAI, he replied in the affirmative.
