Nagpur: With the membership drive open for the
Nagpur For Kids
(NFK) Club, there was a constant trickle of parents into the TOI offices at Dharampeth and
Ramdaspeth
on Saturday. Parents, mostly flanked with their excited kids were looking forward to the
NFK
activities popular for giving new learning experiences coupled with fun to children.
“Education is taken care of in school. What I am hoping from this club is that it will ensure overall grooming of my child,” said
Ashish Raut
, a parent. Though he had come earlier, he waited around for the 100th membership for his daughter. “She is a perfectionist. Numbers like 10 or 100 attract her. As I missed the 10th membership, I decided to wait for the 100th. She will be very happy,” he said.
Another parent
Smita Ghormode
, who was along with her son Shone, said that she was hoping that the activities organized by the club won’t be just entertaining ones. “The activities should ensure skill development and encourage children to do something new,” she said.
Agreeing with Ghormode’s views was another parent
Kailash Hirawani
who said that he wanted the activities to be educative. He said, “I want my son to experience different things. When I read the ad in the newspaper, I decided to come and find out more about the club and am now enrolling him in the it.”
168 children enrolled on the first day of the drive. The membership drive will remain open on Sunday between 10am and 5pm at both the offices of TOI and new members will receive a welcome kit including an Oxford mini dictionary, Rubik's cube and other goodies.
