Teen dies after moped skids in heavy rain

Nagpur: A 16-year-old student was crushed under the rear wheels of a petrol tanker near Ravi Nagar Square on Tuesday during a heavy downpour. Her friend had a lucky escape.Residents had protested the poor condition of the road and unsafe plying of heavy vehicles in a rash and negligent manner despite the ongoing construction work.

The incident took place when Friends Colony residents Sanskruti Mishra and Yash Mishra were retuning home after their tuition class. The killer tanker was heading towards Wadi. Despite the fall, Yash survived as he was wearing a helmet. He is said to be in shock.Senior inspector Gajanan Kalyankar of Ambazari police station said the two vehicles were moving in the same direction. “It’s difficult to say which vehicle hit the other first. The moped is likely to have skidded after the bigger vehicle grazed past it. The girl, riding pillion, came under the rear wheels of the tanker,” he said. TNN
