‘Social service is a religion and one should follow it’

NAGPUR: “There is nothing greater than serving the society.

Social service

is a religion in itself that unites people of all castes and class. Everyone should follow it. The poor population needs our support. But, cumulative efforts are essential to make society a better place to live in,” said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat. He was speaking at the 19th foundation day celebration of The Blind Relief Association Nagpur’s (TBRAN) Mundle School, held at its school hall, on Saturday.

Bhagwat stressed on the importance of traditions in Indian culture. He said, “A human’s identity is derived from his family background. It is very important to preserve the traditions taught by our ancestors. A person should abide to his moral values and extend his duties towards the society.”

The RSS chief urged the gathering to encourage the visually-challenged persons and make them believe in humanity with good deeds.

Also present on the dais were president of TBRAN Nikhil Mundle, vice-presidents Vinay Bakhle and Vishwas Bakshi, secretary Nagesh Kanage, joint secretaries Makarand Pandari Pandey and Maya Thombre and treasurer Sandeep Dharmadhikari.

At the outset, students presented a welcome song ‘Swagat ki ghadi aayi’, while Vedant Dandekar rendered a solo song.

A Bharatanatyam performance by the boys and girls of Raman Maharshee Academy of the Blind, Bengaluru, charmed the audience. It was appreciated with standing ovations and repeated applauses.

The school management, staff and students worked for the success of the event.
