Sewage water enters Tajbagh Shahi qabristan, sparks outrage
Nagpur: Sewage entering the Shahi Qabristan in Tajbagh has triggered outrage, with residents urging the management committee and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation's Nehru Nagar zone to act immediately.Locals warned that the situation could worsen during the monsoon if corrective measures are delayed. The issue was flagged by a resident of Yasin Plot in Prabhag 30, who called for urgent intervention to ensure the site's upkeep and dignity."At the very least, let those resting in their graves rest in peace. The committee must stop the drainage inflow or coordinate with the concerned corporator for immediate action," said media professional Sameer Ishaq.Taj Ahmed, secretary of the committee, said steps are underway to address the problem. "The sewer line along the compound wall is old and undersized. We have requested a larger pipeline. Overflowing chambers spill wastewater into nearby lanes and the cemetery. The same issue was reported two months ago," he said.He added that frequent blockages are caused by encroachments in the Yasin Plot. Nehru Nagar zone assistant commissioner Vikas Raibole said the issue would be resolved soon.
