Research & innovation the only way forward: Experts

Nagpur: The Laxminarayan Institute of Technology (LIT) Global Alumni Meet - ‘Renaissance 2023’ began on Friday at Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University, Amravati Road. On the first day itself, technical sessions of experts from various companies and organizations were held. In this, experts expressed their views on innovation and research. This session received great response from the students.This is the first global alumni meet since LIT got university status and a large number of alumni have come from abroad.

The technical session held today saw chemical engineer Mrinal Das, former secretary of the department of science and technology, Dr S Chandrasekhar, director of Zydec Industries, Dr Ajay Ranka and Jawaharlal Nehru University’s Unnat Pandit. Mrinal Das informed the students about chemical engineering and various employment and research opportunities in it. There are 192 chemical companies in India and there are plenty of employment opportunities.Das expressed satisfaction that LITU students are working in various positions in many of these companies.Dr S Chandrasekhar gave an excellent presentation on how the average life expectancy and happiness index of people have increased in different generations from the silent generation to the alpha generation. He said that the average human life expectancy will be 120 years by 2075 due to advanced technologies in health, agriculture and energy sectors.Dr Rajendra Ranka presented his thoughts on the subject of changes to be made in the education process to bring innovation. The new generation will have to accept the path of change by shunning the ‘chalta hai’ attitude. If LITU wants to be like Harvard University in the future, it will have to work hard and keep up innovation and research, he added.Dr Unnat Pandit discussed the financial aspects of higher education, research, patents. There are innovation labs in the country and also in Nagpur. In it the student is looking for solutions to various problems. He said that LITU is ahead of time and students here can demand innovation lab now.Dr SU Meshram introduced the speakers. Vice-chancellor of LITU Dr Raju Mankar, LITAA president Madhav Labhe, Dr Rajesh Binivale and principal advisor Mohan Pande were present on the occasion. Various cultural programs were held in the evening session.
