Polytechnic student electrocuted in farm AMRAVATI: Tension prevailed in Pathrot village near here on Saturday when a 22-year-old polytechnic student Ashwin Rotwal was electrocuted in his farm. Ashwin accidentally touched a live wire which was left unattended by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
According to information Ashwin's father Shivnarayan owns a farm in Pathrot.
On Saturday afternoon Ashwin had gone to the farm along with some other labourers to perform some farm operation. While doing his work he touched a live electric wire and died.
Sources said, other farm labourers working with Ashwin tried to inform the MSEDCL official but they did not pick up the call. The news of Ashwin's death spread like wildfire in the village. Soon an angry mob gathered in the village and shouted slogans against MSEDCL.
Sources said that Rotwal had complained to the MSEDCL officials about the broken live electric wire which had fallen in his farm, but the officials did not take any action.
One dies in hit and run case Amravati: One person died on the spot while another sustained the serious injuries when a speeding vehicle dashed their cycle near Gurukunj Mozari in Teosa. According to information Rajesh Thorat (26) was going to his farm on his bicycle with Balu Wankhede (30) as pillion. Near Gurukunj Mozari an unidentified vehicle dashed the duo and fled from the spot. Rajesh died on the spot while Balu sustained serious injuries. Balu was later rushed to district
general hospital in Amravati.
Doctor drowns in Bordharan Wardha: Dr Jayant Nakshane of Anjalgaon (Mali) of Bhandara district drowned in Bordharan while swimming in the dam at around 2pm on Sunday. Nakshane (28) as pursuing doctorate of medicine (MD) in
Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Wardha.
"Nakshane and three other doctor friends had gone to Bordharan to celebrate the weekend. While swimming in the dam he drowned accidentally," said PI of Seloo police station G Bisane. The deceased's body has been sent to Sewagram Hospital for post-mortem. No case was filed in the police station, till filling the report.
Teenager ends life Akola: A 18-year-old girl Vedshri Rama Paul ended her life by consuming poison on Saturday. She was a resident of Shankar Nagar in Akot File area. She had consumed poison two days ago and was immediately shifted to a private hospital where she died on Saturday, police said. Reason behind her extreme step is yet to be ascertained. A case of accidental death has been registered.
Outdated butter milk seized Akola: Eighteen outdated buttermilk packets belonging to Amar Dairy, Bodwad, of Jalgaon were seized by the food and drugs administration (FDA) on Friday afternoon after MLA Harish Pimple lodged a complaint. A social worker Prakash Dhomde had noticed outdated packets. A retailer was selling the packets which had expiry date of June 13.
Claimed that there was no mistake from his side proprietor of Amar Dairy, Amar Khatri said, "The expiry date is clearly inscribed on each packet and the distributors and consumers should take note of it before buying and selling those."
On his part Sachin Agrawal, the distributor of Amar buttermilk, advised the consumers to see the expiry date on packet before purchasing.
