PCR denied for two who injured traffic cop

NAGPUR: Mohd Obaid and Nihal Shaikh Ansari, arrested a day ago for injuring traffic sub-inspector Vijay Gite, were sent to jail after court opted to take them into magisterial custody on Friday after being produced. Nandanvan police had sought custody but the same was denied by the court.


Obaid and Ansari, riding without helmet, were slapped with charges of attempt to murder and rash driving among others after they had allegedly drove their bike towards PSI Gite who had signalled them to stop near Uday Lawn between Jai Bheem Chowk and Hasanbagh on Ring Road.

Police sources said the court had objected to polices’ invoking the charges of attempt to murder against the duo in a case of accident.
