NAGPUR: Sensation prevailed at Akola railway station when a passenger travelling in S-8 coach of Gyaneshwari Express from Mumbai to Kolkata was found murdered on Tuesday morning. Interestingly, seven relatives of the deceased who were travelling along with him, continued their journey despite the police taking the body. On being informed by Akola counterparts, the Government Railway Police (GRP) Nagpur swung into action and forced them to go back to Akola.
The deceased passenger has been identified as Mohammed Ashraf (33), a resident of Kolkata.
According to GRP, on Monday Ashraf, Tanuja Khatun Abdul Hamid Mondal (16), Beauty Khatun Mondal (16), Ravir-ul-Mohammed Alam (19), Mohammed Zakir Hussain (38), Abdul Rashid (30) and Ansar Ali (29), had boarded Gyaneshwari Express from Mumbai for Kolkata. Police said the deceased Ashraf, Tanuja and Beauty were in S-8 coach while rest of the persons were in S-10.
Police said Beauty, niece of Ashraf, on Tuesday morning found him lying in a pool of blood. She raised an alarm and informed two co-passengers Babar Ali Mohasir Ali Mondal and Zakir Ali. However, when the train reached Akola station, the railway police were informed about the alleged murder. Though the police took Ashraf's body, relatives continued their travelling. When the Akola railway police informed their counterpart in Nagpur, they swung into action and detained all the relatives. Later they sent them to Akola in Maharashtra Express.
