YAVATMAL: Sitting MLC Haribhau Rathod has said that reservation for Maratha community will not be possible until a complete OBC Census carried out across the country.
In a press release, Rathod has demanded a nationwide census of VJ/NTs, Baluthedars, Kunbis, Marathas and OBC communities.
“The government conducted a national Census in 2011 on the basis of economic status and caste.
The data is available with the Centre, which can be used by the state government for reservation to the Maratha community,” he said.
“We are totally against any reservation for the OBC categories,” Rathod said, adding that the government might consider the guidelines of the National OBC Commission for the purpose.
“The Justice G Rohini Commission appointed by the central government is still working on OBC sub-categorization. Why the state government is not considering it before going for Maratha reservation?” he asked.
