NU To Announce Common UG Admission Schedule Today
Nagpur: Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) will announce the common admission schedule for first-year undergraduate courses on Wednesday, bringing much-needed clarity for aspirants and parents. The delay in releasing the common schedule had caused confusion among students, particularly in the context of recent changes introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP). With Class 12 results of both the state board (HSC) and CBSE already declared, many students were awaiting clear timelines for registration, merit lists, document verification, and commencement of classes before finalising their college preferences.Vice-Chancellor Manali Kshirsagar confirmed that the circular detailing the admission schedule has been finalised and will be issued on Wednesday. The announcement is significant as uncertainty over timelines had disrupted admission planning across affiliated colleges, affecting students applying to multiple institutions and professional courses.University officials stated that the admission process will follow a centralised schedule, similar to previous years, to ensure uniformity and streamline admissions across all affiliated colleges. BOXStudent Bodies Raise Exam, Infrastructure Issues Before NU VC; Complaint Box to Be IntroducedNagpur: In a separate development, major student organisations met Vice-Chancellor Manali Kshirsagar on Tuesday to raise concerns over long-pending academic and administrative issues at Nagpur University.Representatives from NSUI, the Nationalist Students' Congress (Sharad Pawar faction), Yuva Graduate Forum, and the Nagpur University Students' Organisation participated in the discussion.Student leaders alleged serious shortcomings in the private agency's examination handling, citing recurring errors and inaccuracies. They also pointed to delays in the result and revaluation processes.Infrastructure-related concerns were also raised, including inadequate hostel facilities, drinking water shortages, poor food quality, limited library services, and repeated technical failures of the university's digital portal. They further highlighted that several permanent teaching posts have remained vacant since 2017–18, forcing reliance on contractual faculty members who continue to face job insecurity.VC Kshirsagar assured prompt action and said reforms in the examination system would be prioritised, along with efforts to strengthen the university's digital infrastructure.Among the key decisions announced were the introduction of a dedicated "Student Complaint Box" at the VC's office, consideration of CHB assistant professors' contract extensions based on performance in the upcoming academic session, and the proposal to explore a college bus service for students.
