Nation should unite against PM Modi: Kanhaiya Kumar
NAGPUR: Charging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was only helping his select capitalist friends at the cost of common people, communist leader Kanhaiya Kumar appealed to all Indians to unite against him. He was addressing a packed Mankapur stadium during the Samvidhan Jagar programme organized by Bahujan Vichar Manch.
Even though the programme was organized under the auspices of the Manch, it was basically a show of strength by Congress and NCP in the run up to Lok Sabha elections.
Kanhaiya claimed that the Constitution was under threat from Modi government. “Parliament and cabinet has been sidelined by the PM. He is interfering in judiciary and is controlling the media. Had Lal Bahadur Shastri been alive today, he would have said Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Jai Samvidhan,” he said.
“People voted for Modi for development. However, instead of doing something about progress, he is dividing the country on caste and communal lines. Dalits, tribals, minorities, women and all other disadvantaged groups are suffering under his rule,” said Kanhaiya.
Slamming Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, the leftist leader said, “Lord Ram left his kingdom and went to forest on the orders of his father. Yogi has left the forests of Uttarakhand and settled in the kingdom of Lucknow. His name was Ajay Singh Bisht but he changed it. No wonder he is changing the name of cities.”
NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad said that a Dalit girl was torched in UP but Modi did not utter a word. “This shows how hollow his slogan ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ is. His respect for BR Ambedkar is a charade and he only believes in RSS ideology. Under him, the Constitution is under threat,” he added.
Former Congress minister Nitin Raut said that Kanhaiya Kumar had been booked for sedition but RSS regularly insults the national flag but no case is registered against the volunteers. “We will hold Samvidhan Jagar programmes through out the country as it is need of the hour,” he added. “Today, people have become so bold that they raised slogans against Ambedkar and burned copies of the Constitution,” he further said.
Littérateur Yashwant Manohar, Congress corporator Praful Gudadhe-Patil, Congress leader Narendra Jichkar and others also expressed their views on the occasion.
