Nagpur: The Nagpur division emerged as Maharashtra's top-performing region in revenue mobilisation for 2025-26 financial year, achieving 104.58% of its target, driven largely by strong collections from minor minerals. Against a combined target of ₹1,033.41cr under land revenue and minor minerals, the division collected ₹1,080.76cr, divisional commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari said.
The performance comes despite structural constraints in land revenue generation across districts. Officials said the shortfall was offset through higher recovery from minor minerals, reflecting a strategic shift in revenue mobilisation. Between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, the division exceeded its minor mineral revenue target of ₹700 crore by collecting ₹831.27 crore, achieving 118.75%. In contrast, land revenue collection stood at ₹249.07 crore against a target of ₹333.41 crore, reaching 74.70%.
Bhandara district led the division in minor mineral revenue, collecting ₹199.54 crore against a target of ₹100 crore, achieving 199.55%. Gondia followed with 118.66%, Chandrapur 107.86%, Nagpur 106.42%, Gadchiroli 104.44%, while Wardha recorded 84.35%.
In land revenue collection, Wardha ranked first, achieving 105.22% with ₹31.96 crore against a target of ₹30.37 crore. Gadchiroli recorded 87.92%, Chandrapur 87.03%, Gondia 74.31%, Nagpur 66.41%, and Bhandara 57.56%.
Bidari noted that districts with limited land revenue sources had to rely more on mineral-based income. "Difficulties in achieving land revenue targets were compensated through minor mineral collection," she said.
The division's performance reflects a broader trend in Maharashtra's fiscal management, where mineral resources are increasingly playing a critical role in strengthening regional revenues amid limitations in traditional land-based income streams
