MSEDCL Nagpur circle celebrates National Lineman Day
Nagpur: The National Lineman Day was celebrated with enthusiasm across the Nagpur circle of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), with officials and technical staff reiterating their commitment to safety, technological advancement and improved customer service. A programme was organised at the Congress Nagar division, where chief engineer Dilip Dodke urged technical employees to perform their duties with dedication while strictly adhering to safety protocols and taking care of their health. The staff took safety pledge on the occasion.
MSEDCL chairman and managing director Lokesh Chandra and director (Human Resources) Rajendra Pawar gave an audio-visual message. Dodke said that many accidents occur due to overconfidence or minor negligence, and emphasised the mandatory use of safety equipment while carrying out fieldwork. Dodke also highlighted the growing role of technology in the power sector, stating that the era of smart meters and modern systems requires employees to continuously upgrade their skills. "There is no age limit for learning new things," he said.He appealed to employees to maintain better communication with consumers, especially during power outages. "Whenever electricity supply is disrupted, consumers remember the linemen first. It is important to patiently explain the situation and help resolve their concerns," he said and pointed out that the representation of women employees in MSEDCL increased since the introduction of 30% reservation for women in 2013, adding that they are contributing equally to strengthening the organisation's image. Superintending engineer Amit Paranjpe of the Nagpur city circle, executive engineer Rahul Jivatode of the Congress Nagar division, assistant general manager (Human Resources) Mahesh Jadhav and deputy chief public relations officer Yogesh Vitankar addressed the gathering. The programme was anchored by Kritika Joshi, while Jayant Thakre delivered the introductory remarks. Abhilash Barapatre proposed the vote of thanks.Another programme was organised in the Civil Lines division under the chairmanship of Paranjpe, where linemen — often referred to as "Prakash Doots" or messengers of light — were honoured for their service. Employees also pledged to achieve the goals of "Zero Accidents" and "Zero Outstanding Dues."Dhammadeep Fulzhele and Hemraj Dhoke addressed the gathering, while linemen representatives Apeksha Bahadure and Pathan shared their views during the programme. The event was conducted by Sindhu Wankhede, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Vinay Gondhale. Officials, engineers and technical staff from various levels attended the programmes.
