NAGPUR: A
minor
and a teenager were raped in different parts of the city on Tuesday. In both the cases, police have arrested the accused (30).
In the first incident, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped several times by a neighbour and her relative between March last year and May this year. The survivor, a Std IX student, narrated the ordeal to her mother and then lodged a complaint at the
Sadar police station
.
The accused — Nikhil Dakaha (20) and Kritesh Mahurle (25) — have been arrested by Sadar police and charged under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to police, Nikhil and the survivor, both residents of Sadar, came in contact last year, became friends and started chatting with each other. Then, Nikhil allegedly started exploiting her.
During this period, Kritesh, who is a close relative of the survivor’s mother, used to visit her house. Kritesh, who is married to the mother’s cousin, too exploited the survivor. The incident came to light when Nikhil got into a fight with Kritesh asking him to stay away from the survivor.
The girl finally mustered courage to narrate her plight to her mother.
In the other incident, a 19-year-old girl was allegedly exploited by her neighbour by luring her with marriage promises between January and April this year. The accused identified as Pradyuman Pache, 19, has been arrested by police following a complaint by the survivor.
According to the police, the accused started exploiting her with marriage promises. When he declined to stick to it, she the girl lodged a complaint at the
Mankapur
police station.
