Melodious hits of Alka Yagnik regale audience
Nagpur: Around 23 singers of Kanak Sur Mandir entertained the audience with 21 hits of Alka Yagnik at the programme ‘Hits of Alka Yagnik’ at Scientific Society Hall on Friday.
The show began with a chorus presentation of the song ‘Aye mere humsafar’ which received a loud applause from the gathering. Further, beginning with the solo performances by the students of ‘Krazy Beats’ girl band fame Kanaka Gadkari, the first presentation was of the one of the most loved song ‘Taal se taal mila’ from the movie Taal by Kavita Gosavi.

Further on, ‘Tuze yaad na meri ayi’ was rendered in the striking voice of Varsha Meshram.
Moving forward with the event, while Nilima Shegaonkar and Nikhila Phansalkar set a cheerful mood with songs ‘Tu mere sath sath’ and ‘Maiyya Yashoda’ respectively, Ishwari Harkare presented a heart-warming recital of ‘Pardesi pardesi’.
Melodies like ‘Thoda sa pyar hua hai’, ‘Mere angne me’, ‘Is diwane ladke ko’, ‘Poocho jara poocho’, ‘Gazab ka hai ye din’, ‘Ek do teen’ and others were sung well by Suvarna Vighnay, Mansi Degwekar, Vandana Deshpande, Vishakha Manwani, Sangeeta Duragkar, Disha Malviya, Surekha Mirge and others. Gadkari also accompanied all the artistes on the stage to support her students.
The show concluded with a medley sung in chorus by all the women troupe. Founder of Kanak Sur Mandir and father of Kanaka Gadkari, Datta Harkare compèred the show.
Background music was provided by Parimal Joshi and Abhishek Dahikar on keyboard, Moreshwar Dahasahastra on tabla, Vishwajeet Paserkar on octopod, Deepak Kamble on dholak, Ujwala Gokarna on minor and Rugved on guitar.
Gadkari said, “Whatsoever be the advancements in the society, the music industry is still a bit male dominated. To bring a balance in it and to encourage women to follow their passion for singing, I thought of providing such a platform. I see that many a times women are under confident. Such a stage provides confidence to women overcome fear of performance.”
