Man arrested for killing live-in partner 4 months ago

Amravati: The Frezarpura police arrested Subhash Ajab Wankhade (45) from Ahmedabad in connection with the murder of his live-in partner, Kavita (45), a resident of Rahul Nagar, Amravati. The murder took place around four months ago.According to Ganesh Shinde, deputy commissioner of police, Kavita was married and had three children. On June 27, 2025, Kavita left her home in Dhamangaon Railway Tehsil without informing anyone. Her family filed a missing person complaint at Talegaon Dashasar police station.
Kavita later appeared at the police station with Subhash Wankhade and subsequently moved in with him. The couple had rented a room in Rahul Nagar, where they were staying.On September 29, 2025, Kavita's dead body was found in the rented room, while Wankhade remained untraceable. Cops registered a case of murder and launched a manhunt for Wankhade. Three days ago, police received information that Wankhade was residing in Ahmedabad under a changed identity. Acting on this tip-off, Roshan Shirsat, police inspector from Frezarpura police station, dispatched a team led by police sub inspector Rahul Mahajan to Ahmedabad. The team successfully arrested Wankhade and brought him back to Amravati on Thursday. Investigations revealed that a domestic quarrel between the couple had escalated, resulting in Wankhade murdering Kavita.
