Mahametro Facebook account gets 3 lakh followers
NAGPUR: The
Mahametro is one of the rare government organizations to get such a huge Facebook following. It is also one of the rare infrastructure projects to become so popular among social media users.
"We use the Facebook account to solve the problems of citizens. This is the reason for its large following,” he told TOI.
Citing an example, Apte said that a doctor in Dhantoli complained through Facebook that the sewer line in front of his house had been dug up by Mahametro and he was facing a lot of problems. “I asked him how much time would he give us to lay a new line. He said ten days. We completed the job in seven days. The doctor was very happy and thanked us a lot,” he added.
Apte further said that there were some citizens who still had negative view of the project. “Such people are vehemently opposed by others on Facebook. They counter adverse comments with detailed information. We don’t want to stifle anybody’s voice but it is heartening to know that citizens are so positive about the project,” he added.
