Iskcon holds Maha Sankirtan for safety of Hindus in Bangladesh
Nagpur: Iskcon, Nagpur, organised a Maha Sankirtan at Shri Shri Radha Gopinath Temple, offering prayers for safety of Bangladeshi Hindus and Iskcon devotees on Sunday. The event was led by Shrila Loknath Swami Maharaj, a direct disciple of Iskcon founder Acharya AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Shrila Prabhupada, alongside Iskcon Nagpur president Sachchidananda Prabhu.The event was organized in the backdrop of arrest of Iskcon monks and merciless violence specifically targeted at Hindus in Bangladesh. Bangladesh authorities also stopped 63 Iskcon devotees from crossing into India to participate in a religious congregation. The congregation, led by Iskcon, Nagpur, vice-president Brajendra Tanay Das, chanted "Hare Krishna mantra". The assembly also performed Lord Narasimha's aarti. According to Iskcon Nagpur spokesperson Shyamsundar Sharma, "The synchronised programme was held across 1,100 Iskcon temples in 156 countries, including India." The event continued uninterrupted across time zones with prayers beginning in one country as they concluded in another.Sharma referenced Queen Draupadi's devotion, stating, "Through this Sankirtan Yagna, we anticipate a positive outcome, as collective prayers hold significant power."The sankirtan received support from temple commander Jai Girdhari Prabhu and devotees including Venu Gopal Prabhu, Amal Bhaav Prabhu, Karun Gaurang Prabhu, and Prasanna Jeet Prabhu. Musical accompaniment was provided by Bhakt Krishna Prabhu, Anand Kirtan Prabhu, Sankirtan Sevak Prabhu, and Prathamesh Prabhu on mridang and kartal.
