Nagpur: To celebrate friendship of Manna Dey and Kishore Kumar and the latter’s birth anniversary, Siddhivinayak Publicity presented “Diamonds Forever: Unforgettable Melodies of Manna Dey and Kishore Kumar’ at Deshpande Hall in Civil Lines, on Sunday.
Four singers, Sagar Madhumatke, Sarang Joshi, Sonali Dixit and Shreya Kharabe did what they do best — cast a magic sell on the audience throughout the 24 songs presented in the evening.
The mash-up of two songs ‘Phoolon ke rang se’ and ‘Raat kali ek khwab mein aayi’ sung by Sagar struck the initial chord with the audience. Back-to-back hit songs by him like ‘O majhi re’, ‘Dil kya kare’, ‘Dilbar mere’and ‘Sagar kinare’ took the listeners to a different plane.
Sarang Joshi showed why he is one of the most revered singers of the city by serving magical numbers like ‘Tere naina’, ‘Tu pyar ka sagar hai’ and ‘Laga chunri mein daag’.
In between anchor Manoj Salpekar kept entertaining the listeners with his charismatic way. “People cherish friendship throughout their lives. Today, the friendship of Manna Dey and Kumar is being displayed for us to reminisce their bond,” he said.
Later duets like ‘Pyar hua iqkraar hua hai’ by Sarang and Sonali, ‘Jahan mein jaati hu’ by Sarang and Shreya, ‘Ek chatur naar’ by Sarang and Sagar evoked foot-tapping response from the attendees.
The programme was conceptualized by Samir Pandit. Abhishek Lilhare, Mithun Mitra and Rajesh Amin were the background faces who contributed in making the event a successful one.
