Nagpur: Narrators of two stories of renowned Hindi littérateurs Harishankar Parsai and Mohan Rakesh that depicted important facets of life gave a gripping experience to the audience at an hourlong reading session at Hamsa Sabhagruh, near Soham High School, Sitabuldi, on Saturday.
Dinkar and Madhuri Bedekar were immaculate in style as they read out ‘Das Din Ka Anshan’ written by Parsai and ‘Uski Roti’ by Rakesh.
Parsai’s story dealt with religion and honesty that had many funny twists while that of Rakesh had a musical and dramatical touch to excite the listeners.
A movie based on ‘Uski Roti’ was also made in 1969 with Savita Bajaj and Gurdeep Singh as lead actors. The story depicted dying relationship between a couple. When it comes to love, it was but natural that the listeners were curious to know how it unfolds.
Mohan Sarwate, cultural coordinator of Soham, a home for the aged, told TOI, “We have been conducting many events to entertain senior citizens. This initiative appeared to be interesting to them. We are planning to hold more such creative activities in the near future.”
Varsha Manohar, president and trustee of Soham, was present.
