Goons assault 2 for refusing to pay for cigarettes
Nagpur: Seven goons were arrested for assaulting two persons for not paying for their cigarettes after partying outside a bar at Teka Naka in the early hours of April 20.The incident occurred around 12.30am when complainant Sheikh Aqeel Sheikh Jalil, 45, a resident of Lalzhenda Chowk, went for dinner along with his friend. A dispute erupted when one of the accused demanded payment for cigarettes.Upon refusal, the accused allegedly called a gang, gathered them at the spot and brutally attacked the victims using wheels and rods. The attackers also vandalised and damaged the complainant's car.Based on the complaint lodged by Sheikh Aqeel, Kapil Nagar police team led by senior police inspector Satish Ade, comprising PSI Yogesh Nalte and others, registered charges of attempt to murder, rioting and arrested the accused. Those arrested have been identified as Mohammad Azhar, 27, Hussain Akram Qureshi, 26, Prince Upadhyay, 27, Ashwin Choudhary, 23, Irfan Khan, 22, and Farhan Mustafa Khan, 25. All hail from Kamgar Nagar and surrounding areas in Kapil Nagar. A couple of more accused are still absconding, and a search is underway.A video of the attack has gone viral on social media.
