NAGPUR: A man, in his twenties, was shot dead by his rivals who had inflicted stab injuries on him near Old Pardi Naka on Sunday.
Parvez Shaikh, externed by Tehsil police, was shot twice with a country-made firearm from close quarters after a scuffle.
Cops tried to hush up the use of a firearm by trying to portray it as a case of stabbing for reasons best known to them.
Parvez was close to another goon who had recently committed a murder.
Police said that the brother-in-law of Lalit Shrivastav, recently netted by the sub-unit of the state anti-terrorist squad (ATS) for narcotics, is likely to be involved in the murder.
The name of his accomplice too has cropped up in the preliminary investigation. Police have also detained Lalit whose clothes had blood stains. The reason behind the murder has been kept under wraps by the cops.
Kalamna police have registered an offence.
