NAGPUR: Terming Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari as a person who is respected by everybody, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said the former BJP president is well connected to his roots despite growing big in stature.
Fadnavis was speaking after releasing a special issue ‘Gauravank’ published by Marathi daily Tarun Bharat to mark the 60th birthday of Gadkari.

The book is a compilation of events in Gadkari’s public and political life. It includes views expressed by personalities Prime Minister Narendra Modi, singer Lata Mangeshkar, former defense minister Manohar Parrikar, state finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, actor Nana Patekar and many others.
The CM further said, “Nitinji doesn’t carry any baggage of the past. He is a well sorted out personality. He has not only promoted agriculture but has keen interest in the fields of water management, solar energy and the use of modern tools in agriculture.”
The CM also appreciated Tarun Bharat for releasing the issue to mark Gadkar’s birthday. Shyam Petkar, editor of Tarun Bharat, said, “Before starting ‘Gauravank’ I felt I was doing something very unique. Gadkari is a great person amd much-loved personality.”
Those present at the event included president of Tarun Bharat Vilas Dangre, working president Anil Dandekar, managing director Dhananjay Bapat and chief editor Gajanan Nimdeo.
